Cancer risks for men can be identified by looking for the following information:

  • The presence of lumps, sores, or ulcers that do not heal
  • Changes in the shape, consistency, or lumpiness of your testicles
  • Coughs that do not go away or show blood, persistent hoarseness
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • A mole that has changed shape, size, or colour, or bleeds, or an inflamed skin sore that has not healed
  • The presence of blood in bowel movements
  • A persistent change in toilet habits
  • Changes or problems with the urinary system

Cancer screening:

  • Check the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA)
  • Testicular changes in men between 15 and 45 years of age
  • A gastroscopy and colonoscopy starting at age 45
